So today is my brother's birthday! He's turning 15 - gosh, he's old! Honestly, sometimes he makes me feel so old. 18 isn't that old, right?
I learn a lot from my brother. While he acts like a lazy-ass most of the time, he's great in giving people advice and reading people. I honestly can't count the number of times I've asked him for advice about my life issues (relationships, family). I've been surprised time and time again because his advice displays the mature side of his character. Unfortunately, my family rarely witnesses that side of him, so they just think he's an idiot child. Oh well, what can you do.
He's been there to support me and at times, done the most surprising acts of kindness/love that any pair of siblings can have for one another. I'd be crying in my room, and he'd walk in, give me a hug and ask me if I'm alright. That, ladies and gentlemen, is a great brother. I mean, yes, we fight. But it is common knowledge that all siblings fight, right? And we're so weird that even after a humongous fight, we'll be fine after 5 minutes or, at most, a day. In the end, we'll always be brother and sister because we know that we only have each other. Our parents aren't going to be our support networks (but to be honest, they never were). We can only lean on each other, learn from each other and help each other. We're both growing each day together.
Even when our family members are scolding us when we've caused trouble at home, my brother will save me ass (and vice versa). We have each other's backs, yknow? That's how it should be.
I love my brother, and I can't be more thankful than to have him in my life.
