A month ago, I wrote a piano theory exam (it was Intermediate Harmony in case you were wondering) and after 6 weeks of waiting in agony, I received the results today - fail!
When I saw the mark, I knew it was a a fail mark. Just a glance at the first number - it was a 5...- put a knife through my brain.
I was so disappointed in myself (I still am) because I actually spent time studying and practicing (with a bit of procrastination...but who doesn't procrastinate, right?). And this mark doesn't even reflect the time I put into studying for the exam! Ugh.
I expected my family, mostly my grandma, to freak out at me, but they didn't. They knew that I tried my best and already mentioned retaking the exam in the summer.
I was surprised by their reactions and how loving they can be, even if they're truly disappointed. I know that at the end of the day, they'll always be there for me no matter what happens.

We all have our share of failures. We all fail at something in life, whether it was a test at school, or interviews for a job. But these failures shape our very being. And I know this sounds odd, but our failures are part of us. But no in the negative sense.
Failures motivate us and teach us important lessons in life. Fail a test? - Study the one you failed, review the material again, and learn from your mistakes!
Fail a job interview? - Practice makes perfect! Go to a mirror and ask yourself common questions. Ensure that your responses are genuine, concise and definitely clear.
At some point in our lives, we will fail at something, but know that it is okay. Get up and try again. Figure things out when you're ready. Do what you need to do in order to become successful.
If I can do it, you can too. I believe in you guys.
The question is - do you believe in yourself?
