What is the definition of familial love?
Well I went on several websites and here are some answers I found:
1. The fourth Greek word for love is storge, which relates to natural, familial love such as the love between a parent and child. In the New Testament, the negative form of storge is used twice. Astorgos means “devoid of natural or instinctive affection, without affection to kindred.”
2. Storge also called familial love, is the Greek word for natural affection—such as the love of a parent towards offspring, and vice versa.
3. Familial love in specific, is the love shared between parents and their offspring, or siblings in a family.
Looking at those definitions, I think we can all agree that family love is important in every persons' life. For my usual readers, you know that I have a poor/strained relationship with my mom. Well today, I had another bad experience with her again, even if I haven't seen her in a few months.
Today, she told me that I was worthless. She said that I wasn't a good person, that I haven't been working hard at all, even though I've been juggling multiple things at once (piano, piano theory, calculus night school, actual school, etc). She told me that as a parent, she had no obligation whatsoever to financially contribute to my university education. She said that she didn't really want me, that I was just a mistake.
And after she said all these things, I let her get to me even if I know my own worth. I let her say shit to my face, even though I defended myself. Everyday, I fight against her hurtful words. But there are days when I let her words punch me in the stomach and rip my heart into shreds. Sometimes, I let her kill me inside and destroy what's left.
