Last night, I spent 6-8 hours skyping Cory. He's just one of those friends you can talk to for hours about literally anything. We ended up skyping till 7AM, talking about sunrises, this girl he has a major crush on and just super general topics like music and whatnot.
We've only known each other a couple of months, but he's a pretty good friend when things go bad in my life. He supports me in the best way that he can - by talking to me about it, changing the subject when he senses that I'm pissed or uncomfortable - and remembers the things that I don't even bother to remember.
I just had to write a post about this, to really express my appreciation for such a great friend in my life. I've come across different types of people in 4 years of high school, and it's obvious only 2, out of all those I've become friends with, care about me and want to keep connections. Only Cory and another friend have kept contact during the summer, and asked to hangout before school begins.
Realistically, even though I'm not in residence, I still won't have that many opportunities to hangout with these two friends. We'll have another life in school, another group of friends and a whole new set of challenges to overcome. Even though we'll be so busy, we'll still make it work.
Cory and I have already been talking about hanging out every few months or so, based on how busy we get. Maybe we'll go Pokemon Go hunting, or go to the park.
This summer didn't turn out to be as disappointing as I thought. In the midst of the most difficult decisions I've had to make, and hurdles I have had to overcome, I still find myself standing in between two great friends to end off the summer.
