People often say that being friends with your ex is an impossible thing to do - it's like that silly dream kids have of flying high in the sky.
I had difficulty choosing which tab to post this on - was it love? or was it friendship? I don't even have a "random messages from ex" tab. This wasn't a matter of love, though. Maybe it roots to something more important - friendship. Now you're probably wondering what happened, so let me tell you.
I'm writing out notes for school, in preparation for studying with my friend tomorrow, and I have a few tabs open on my web browser, so I decide to check my Google Mail while I was on my laptop. I open my Gmail and see a couple of new emails, but my eye gazes to the side of the screen and I find myself staring at a new message from my ex! How weird, right?
OUT
OF
THE
BLUE.
Out of curiosity, I click the message (it's in bold letters) and read the message.
*cue the suspenseful music*
Long story short: my ex wanted to talk (no clue what about though). The message was sent yesterday (Sunday). Today is Monday. Being the curious cat, I type a response of "Hey, sorry I just opened my gmail and saw your message. What's up?"
I won't map out the whole convo for you, since it's really not that interesting, but the gist of it? - He said he missed talking to me. Remember, we were friends before we dated, so obviously this is a normal feeling. Even I get this feeling, too (sometimes). We made small talk - how's school been? Did you make any new friends? Is the commute rough?
And yes, he did pop the question "how's your love life been?" and since I'm single like a lonely bean, I say "no love life". Yes, I like someone, but that is totally different from having a legit love life, right?
That's about it, guys. Nothing interesting. What do you think - could we actually move on from our past relationship, and renew the friendship we had before?
Or am I just pushing for the impossible?
